Another report from the McCallum

Hello All,

Well I did make it to this most special concert at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert on Thursday, February 10th, 2011. Mary Ann Mobley, Monty Hall, the Jive Aces, and the Gene Krupa Tribute Band were great. That being said, let me go on to the true star of this show in my opinion and most likely all who are reading this feel the same way.

I'm not sure if Mr. Ames would say this about himself, but this is how I feel. There ... << MORE >>

At the McCallum

Dear Fellow MingoWomen,
The newly renovated McCallum Theater is a beautiful venue. It was a perfect setting for this event. The second half of the program was as Susie described, entirely Mr. Ames'. He was very relaxed and as his signature style has always been, he connected very strongly with the eager audience. There was continued scattered applause as the audience recognized various tunes. One of the highlights was when Mr. Ames unbuttoned his double-breasted suit coat and gave us an animated rendition from "Fiddler on the Roof". Soon after he filled the auditorium with ... << MORE >>

The wagons jerked to a stop some hours later. The interior of the wagon was almost completely in darkness. Mingo rubbed his eyes and sat up again. He guessed the circus must be planning to make camp for the night. He could hear shouting and laughing as ... << MORE >>

Notice of Changes to Come

Greeting from the PacNW-no snow, rain and 50 degrees.

Everyone knows about the spam problem that we are having. Today I had lunch with a good friend who is quite knowledgeable about website, blogs, etc. So in exchange for two rosebush (lots of our plants did not survive our first sudden freeze), she will help make some changes to Mingowomen.com.

As a first step, maybe a permanent one, I have setup a group on Facebook called Mingowomen.com. If you are on my personal friends list  I added you to ... << MORE >>

New story: The Day the Circus Came to Boonesborough

Hi All,

I know I posted about Paula's new story the other day, but it kind of got lost in all those interesting questions we would want to ask Mr. Ames.

So I thought I would post the link to it here, and give it its own subject entry. It's a great story and I think you will like it as much as I did.

Here is the link to the page it is on at my corn-cakes site.

What Question Would You Ask?

Hi Ladies,

Cindy and I have been having a discussion that we thought might be interesting to extend to the whole group.

If you had a chance to ask Mr. Ames a question, what is the one question you would ask?
